An annual fun-filled eight-day summer festivity immortalizing the timeless love song, Sarung Banggi, and a tribute to its composer, POTENCIANO V. GREGORIO. The entire colorful performance is shown at nighttime when the street parade routes are brightly lighted with large torches. The whole town become a true picture of rural life with the multitude of people occupying the streets to watch and join the nighttime merriment. |

Mountain Trek and Mayon Volcano Climbing
For the adventurous and nature buffs, a visit to Sto. Domingo will not be complete if you do not climb its mountains, rich with lush green forest that offers a variety of flora and fauna, some of which are rare orchids and birds.
Descending in deep mountain ravines for mountain springs or for catch is excitingly dangerous and challenging to the adventure-inclined individuals.
The panoramic Mayon Volcano, aside from its perfect cone and fiery eruptions, its attractive power draws horde of adventure- seeking visitors to climb towards its crater. The volcano affords the visitors cool mountain air, lots of exercise and the grandest view of Legazpi City and the sea.
If you decide to trek the whole day, you may enter Mayon through the Mayon Volcano Natural Park in Barangay Lidong. Experienced guides can bring you up to 6,000 ft. above sea level. CAMP I, where bunk house had been constructed is frequently full during weekends and during the heights of visits of foreign tourist, even during weekdays.

Aside from the very popular spicy “BICOL EXPRESS” and “PINANGAT” (gabi leaves cooked in coconut milk with shrimp and fish/pork) which became part of the daily fare of Bicolanos, Domingueños had also concocted a local dish which they can truly claim their own invention – the “TILMOK”. “TILMOK”is a delicious native recipe made with thinly chopped river shrimp(gangawan) and grated young coconut and heavily spiced with onions and garlic. The mixture is wrapped in young coconut or banana leaf and put to slow boil until cooked. “TINOLANG MANOK” also a delicious native recipe made with small cut of native chicken cooked with ginger, then add with pepper leaves and some cube sized young papaya and spices, including the fiery sili and then cooked. |
