The Municipality of Sto. Domingo is located at 13°, 14’, 8” North and 123°, 46’ and 32” East. It belongs to the First Congressional District of the Province of Albay. It is bounded by the municipalities of Bacacay and Malilipot in the North; the South by Legazpi City; the Albay Gulf on the East, and the Mayon Volcano on the West. It is a coastal town seated strategically between two commercial centers: Legazpi City some 12 kilometers to the south and Tabaco City, about 14 kilometers to the north. The climate of Sto. Domingo belongs to type 11 under Corona’s climate classification. This type does not have a dry season, with a very pronounced maximum rainfall from September to February. With its location on the Eastern Coast, Sto. Domingo is open to the Northeast Monsoon and trade winds as well as cyclonic storms with annual frequency of 22 and with a 30% probability of hitting the town. Rainfall occurs throughout the year with a mark of heavy rain usually associated with typhoons and tropical depressions. Precipitation is less in the months of April and May. The average annual rainfall of the town is 29 inches. This pattern of rainfall is adaptable to agricultural crops like corn, rice, coconut and abaca, which are the major commercial crops of the municipality.
Precipitation in the municipality is high during the months of October to January with its maximum in December. The annual average temperature is 26.8°C with a mean relative humidity of 80%. The annual dew point is 23°C. The temperature is at its highest during the months of April to June with a mean temperature of 24°C and the lowest of 17°C between January and February.
